1. Are there any established risk factors that are associated with veterans aging or increased risk of chronic diseases?

There could be many, but two of them are strongly linked in aging as well increased risk of chronic diseases: They are increased oxidative stress and chronic inflammation. Increased oxidative stress is caused by excessive amounts of free radicals derived from oxygen and nitrogen. Chronic inflammation can be caused by inhalation of toxic chemicals fumes and dust particles, infection or cells damaged by free radicals and other agents, vascular injuries or physical injuries.

2. Why do veterans suffer increased risk of chronic diseases?

Veterans were exposed to high oxidative environments during training and in combat that include extreme environmental conditions (altitude, heat and cold), exposure to diesel fuel, chemicals, explosives, noise. They all generate excessive amounts of free radicals and cause varying degrees of inflammation. After retirement, many veterans continue to have a lifestyle such as cigarette smoking, excessive consumption of alcohol and caffeine and lack of adequate exercise that may increase oxidative stress during aging and increase the risk of chronic diseases.

3. What is unique about Veterans Ultimate Complete?

Appropriate doses of dietary and endogenous antioxidants, vitamin D, B-vitamins, and minerals are safe and effective.  It has two forms of natural vitamin E, d-alpha tocopherol, most effective in neutralizing free radicals outside the cell, and d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate, which is most effective within the cell.

It has both vitamin A and mixed carotenoids (90 % of “mixed carotenoids” is beta-carotene), because beta-carotene not only acts as precursor of vitamin A, but it has benefits that are not related to vitamin A.

It has no iron or copper, because iron and copper combines with vitamin C and produces free radicals. Furthermore, iron and copper are absorbed from the intestinal tract better in the presence of vitamin C than in the absence of it. This may increase body stores of free iron and copper, because nature has provided no significant mechanisms of excretion of iron and copper among men of all ages and women after menopause. Increased body stores of free iron is associated with the increased risk of most chronic diseases.

It has no heavy metals such as zirconium, molybdenum and vanadium, because they are toxic to the brain with chronic exposure.

4. Does Veterans Ultimate Complete interfere with prescription or over-the-counter medications?

In most cases, the answer is no. As a matter of fact it may enhance the efficacy of these drugs. However, persons undergoing radiation or chemotherapy should not take this formulation, because glutathione-elevating agents (n-acetylcysteine and alpha-lipoic acid) present in this product may reduce the efficacy of radiation therapy or chemotherapy. PMC has developed a separate formulation for cancer patients undergoing standard therapy; however, this can be taken only under the supervision of oncologists.

5. What benefit should I expect from Veterans Ultimate Complete?

Improve your health by reducing oxidative-and chronic inflammation- related harmful effects, and by increasing the competency of your immune system.

6. Do you have any vitamins for my family?

Yes, PMC has developed optimal health formulas that are based on age and gender.

7. Do you have a vitamin formula for persons with active disease who are taking prescription drugs?

Yes, PMC has formulations for heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson disease. However, they are in the research phase, and can be provided only through physicians.

8. Do I take any other vitamins, if I take Veterans Ultimate Complete?

No, but other supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids will not be a problem if taken with Veterans Ultimate Complete.

9. Why should I take Optimal Health instead of just Sevak?

Our body has multiple antioxidants some of which we take from the diet whereas others are made by the body. Sevak has only dietary antioxidants. As you grow older, the capacity to make certain antioxidants reduces; therefore  an additional supplement of antioxidants made by the body is needed. In addition, your body may also need additional amounts of dietary antioxidants.

10. Why should I take/switch to the heart formula? What are the warning signs that I should be on the heart formula?

If you are on any kind of heart medication, you consult your physician before taking Heart formula. The ingredients present in the heart formula are sufficient to protect HDL and LDL (high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein, respectively) from oxidation, reduce homocysteine levels and decreases C-reactive proteins levels. High LDL and low HDL, homocysteine and C-reactive proteins are considered risk factors for heart disease.

If you are not on medication for heart disease, but have high risk behavior or have a family history of heart disease, you should consider taking optimal health for your age and gender.

11. What vitamins or agents are specifically increased in each of the optimal Health Programs and how much do they increase (especially between OH 51-65 and OH 66+)?

Primarily, vitamin C, vitamin E, n-acetyl cysteine, alpha lipoic acid are increased for the older age groups.  Also, coenzyme Q10 and L-carnitine are added.  The amounts increase vary from 1.5-2 times the amounts present in the younger group formulations.

12. Do I need to take the Metabolic formula if there is a history of diabetes in my family or only if I have signs of hyperglycemia/ hypoglycemia/ diabetes?

Metabolic formula is for those who have active hyperglycemia/diabetes. This formula is in research phase, and can be provided only through physicians. If you have family history, you should consider optimal health for your age and gender. If you are under 35 years of age, you take optimal health formula for (36-50 years). If you are over 35 years of age, you take optimal health for 51-65 years.

13. Why are your products better than other products?

It has both vitamin A and beta-carotene is more beneficial than having vitamin A alone or beta-carotene alone.

It has two forms of vitamin E this increases the effectiveness of vitamin E in your body.

It has sufficient amounts of folic acid to reduce birth defects

It has no iron or copper that can be harmful after long-term consumption

It has no heavy metals that increase the risk of brain damage

We recommend vitamins twice a day that is very essential for optimal benefit.

14. What is (ie vitamin E vitamin C) suppose to do for my body?

Vitamin E protects membranous structures against damage produce by free radicals, whereas vitamin C protects those structures that are present in the water environment. About 80% of cellular environment contains water. They can also reduce inflammation that is harmful to your health.

15. Why do you send vitamin C crystals instead of tablets with cellular security formula?

Recommended 8 grams of vitamin C will need 16 capsules. Many patients do not like to take too many capsules. Vitamin C in crystals is readily absorbed that is important for those undergoing radiation or chemotherapy. To reduce the risk of upset stomach, take vitamin C with water after meal.. If it still creates upset stomach, divide the total dose into there times a day rather than twice a day. This formula is in research phase and can be only provided through physicians.

16. Why do I need the Calcium-Magnesium + vitamin D that comes with OH for women over age 40? Is my calcium supplement is sufficient.

If you are taking Optimal Health Formula with our Ca-Mg supplement, you do not need any other Ca-Mg supplement. Recommended amounts are sufficient for bone health.

17. Will any of these disease protocols keep me from developing the disease?

No. Disease protocols are in the research phase, and can be provided only through physicians.  These nutritional disease protocols may improve the efficacy of standard therapy.

18. Why is there only one heart/ metabolic formula now?

After careful analysis of ingredient present in these formulations, it was decided by our scientists that Optimal Health formula will be sufficient for those patients who do not have active disease but have a family history of such diseases.
